[Rey was not so reckless as to offer to have one of the lure cages strapped to her back, but she was guarding one of the volunteers who had. She had acquired a new set of protective gear, brown and green to help her blend into the forest around them. Her staff was held tight in her hand, and she was alert to their surroundings, though still adjusting to open horizons of dessert being replaced by the much harder to scan trees, dense and lush with green.
She kept pace with her team, ready for a fight, keeping off to the side and away from the direct line of Liam's path. The smell of the lures wasn't a problem. She was used to terrible smells. But the sound of distant rustling and the endless snapping of twigs had her on edge.
At one point, she tried to tap into the Force again. She tried to use that sense to reach out and feel for what was in the forest with them. But without training, understanding, or practice to guide her, it was as if she were blindly in the dark, trying to feel for the walls to lead her to a door.
She let the sense slip away to the back of her mind again, relying on her eyes and ears instead. Finally, in a low voice to her teammates, she cautioned:]
Sounds like something's following us.
