Kingsley AU: Maddison Kingsley and James Walker eloped as teenagers, running away with stolen credit cards to America from England. When they discovered Maddison was pregnant, James mysteriously left. Maddison was left homeless and alone in a foreign country, with her newborn son Jamie. She struggled like this for eight years, barely scraping by until she died and Jamie was taken by the leader of the Sun Riders, starting on the slippery slope that led him to the persona of Dodger.
In this AU, she was instead aided by a friendly soul named Jack McCollough, who in his canon timeline had simply passed her by. Jack became a family friend and sort of father figure for Maddison, helping her get back on her feet. Maddison became a waitress and got a small house, and despite being a somewhat troubled teenager Jamie turned out pretty well. By the age of 25, Jamie Kingsley has graduated college and works as a police officer for the Boston Police Department. He's working toward becoming a detective, both to try and fix the world and to get a salary that will allow his mother to live as well as he feels she deserves.
This version of Dodger is better-dressed and better-mannered, and has a muddled British accent. Jamie is likely to spend his time trying to apologize to people he's upset as Dodger, and will also take a more academic approach to Dodger's firefly project. He is also notably missing his scars, tattoos and wrist wraps, and his general appearance is a lot less sickly.
