Hello, Riverview! I'm so happy to meet you all. I'm Rinna, and with me I bring Takashi Natsume of the supernatural slice of life Natsume's Book of Friends. Our protagonist here is a sixteen-year-old boy whose hobbies are "minding his own business" and "living a peaceful life in the countryside".
Just kidding. Just imagine the ball is a spirit or some kind of supernatural monster, and you have basically every day of Natsume's life.
This kid has the unusual ability to see creatures and beings straight out of Japanese folklore—your requisite kappa, your enshrined gods, your prideful and hungry demons and forest spirits—and, rarer still, he has taken to helping many of them with their problems. Of course, they cause him a lot of problems of his own...
He is very polite, inclined toward being as low maintenance as possible for any caretakers, and can frequently be caught paling at the sight of things no one else can see, jumping like a spooked cat and running off randomly, and generally exhibiting concerning behavior that makes you wonder if you need to feed him and force him take a nap. Other than all this, he's a very sweet boy who tries hard not to cause trouble for anyone else. Just don't mind the lack of emotional honesty.
