The formal title is 'special agent'. The official paperwork lists me as a teacher of behavioral sciences at the Academy, on consultant status with the BAU; licensed to carry.

Which is a fancy way of saying I have a temporary badge and I carry a gun, but if I shoot the wrong person the FBI can deny responsibility for putting me in the field.
