PLAYER PLOT: BUTTERFLY EFFECT
Good mornevening, Riverview, welcome to baby’s first player plot! Which I’m putting as a disclaimer so when I make a mistake somewhere we can all blame it on that.
As per the little sneak peak on the calendar, this is a timeline and AU shenanigan related plot, because every game needs one, and I’m here to provide you with the perfect excuse. “So what exactly is going on, Justine?” I hear you ask. Lemme tell you. After the cut and this fun gif.

On the 10th, the portal is going to make the mistake of trying to bring through an object from Taako’s world, namely the Temporal Chalice, which allows its wielder control over time. Due to the nature of both the chalice and the portal, the former is going to get stuck in the latter, resulting in some interesting effects for characters in game. Namely that they’re going to be able to come from a different point in their timeline, or from an AU version of their life.
The main restriction on the AU section is that the alternate timeline needs to be based around a choice that could be made differently by the character or someone character-adjacent. For example, you can’t have a Batman AU where he goes to Hogwarts, but you could have an AU where Bruce’s parents decided not to go to the opera/movies/theater the night they were murdered, and are therefore still alive. We’re (being me and our dear mod friend) aren’t going to police anyone’s AUs too heavily, just try to be reasonable!
The second option available is that the character simply comes from an earlier or later point in their timeline. This is open to things depicted in canon, implied in canon, or things that aren’t implied in canon but can be reasonably assumed. The restriction on this part is to not go crazy with it, to use the Batman example again, you could pick a point from his travelling the world days that aren’t explicitly shown in canon but are implied, or a future point where he’s retired from being Batman, but not a future timeline where he’s been bitten by a vampire and decided to take over the world.
We’re trusting you guys to be sensible with this, so don’t get weird.
The other few things of note are important but I’ll sum them up in dot points below:
And now for the solution to the plot, which is another interactive part of this! On the 10th, I’ll be posting a mission that multiple teams/characters can sign up for, with the aim of returning the chalice through the portal. ICly, characters will find out what the problem is on the 12th, when Taako makes a network post explaining the situation.
I have no particular solution in mind for this, and you don’t need to actually come up with a reasonable explanation for how characters do it, the mission is there to be used for CR building, mostly. If there are multiple teams that sign up (which is allowed), the solution that works will be decided by RNG. As a note, Taako does not need to be involved in this solution process at all, or his involvement can be handwaved, but if your character would want to talk to him and you wanna thread that out, just let me know.
So, in summary: alternate timelines/canon points, and an optional mission if people want to develop CR.
If you have any questions, there will be a thread below where you can ask them, and this post is also the spot to do any OOC planning if you’d like!
I don’t know how to end posts like this so C: HAVE FUN NERDS C:

The other few things of note are important but I’ll sum them up in dot points below:
- Characters can switch to their temporary timeline at any point during the plot, it doesn’t have to start on the 10th, but once they’ve switched they’ll be stuck that way until the 24th
- Characters can have memories of Riverview, to avoid the “where am I” song and dance - you can be as general or specific with these memories as you’d like
- If you want to use an alternate journal for icons or whatever reasons, that’s fine, just request comm access with that account and fill out this form.
- ETA: If you're taking a character from a future canon point, once the event is over they can remember their time in Riverview and that they were from the future, but they won't remember specific details of their canon future, since this crosses the line into a canon update.

jim kirk
-
stealingborrowing a car/bike to go for a joyride;- going out into the jungle because he Can and You're Not His Mom so you can't stop him;
- taking random candies from stores and making a run for it;
- painting walls and shit;
- pranking poor unsuspecting people in the stupidest and craziest ways;
- idk whatever else I can think of.
So if your character's an adult perfect to be the victim of his antics, or you'll have a similarly wild child running around the place, hit me up and let's plot things! adventures! MADNESS.
PS: he will remember Riverview and the people he met here of course, he just might remember some details differently when it comes to stuff less appropriate for a teen (for instance, people flirting with him, alcohol, adult parties, etc.) If you're wondering about some particular detail, let me know!

i'm volunteering taako to get jim out of trouble at some point bc he's gonna be just super fuck off powerful for two weeks lmao

yes i am up for this. you'll have like ten different types of trouble to pick from, too. perfect.
no subject
i'm down for any but au taako is gonna be a lot more ruthless so if jim has pissed someone off he might just go straight to "kill a dude" as a problem solving option. so u kno. if u wanna avoid that #drama we can just go monster troubles
