character ● name: Takashi Natsume ● age: 16 ● occupation: Assistant at the Animal Shelter! ● residence: Communal Housing, Floor 14, Bed 9 ● about: In general, he's a high schooler, polite, kind of quiet, a little awkward but that's not so bad. The next layer of him is someone even more awkward than at first glance; he seems unsure of how to take in the kindness of others without instinctively wanting to somehow "earn" it. Go deeper still and you find a boy who is sweet but very secretive, hiding things that he seems to be—afraid of? He comes across as someone who very much wants to say something, but ends up closing his mouth again at the last moment. He's much more honest about himself than he used to be—he remarks that he's not so good at lying anymore—but his smiles are still frequently used to pacify others. Don't worry, or don't be angry, that sort of thing. Mild in deference.
The deepest part of him you can find—and that he hopes no one will find—is that he has a special sight, an ability to see otherworldly spirits and creatures. During childhood, he was ridiculed for his reactions of fear to these creatures, written off as a kid trying too hard to get attention, or worse, a kid who was crazy. Now he makes every effort to hide what he sees from everyone else. Still, it can be obvious that something's wrong when you watch him pale at the sight of nothing, startle in concern, or randomly run off.
He's physically weak (noodle arms!) and gets sick quite easily, but is always doing all that he can to protect people; he sees it as a kind of duty. His spiritual power is very strong, so that's how he lends his aid when possible. He also ends up doing favors for people way more than he intends to... Even through his exasperated sighs, it's hard not to help, okay?
● what aspect of the game you are most interested in with this character: Definitely, definitely, the opportunities for emotional intimacy. Natsume's canon is a long-running slowburn showcasing emotional development and the strengthening of bonds. I'm hopeful to see Natsume continue to grow and grow and grow and grow. ● what plans you have for this character: Not so many, yet! He arrived only recently—I've made a network post with him but am eager to branch out. ● shipping/smut preferences: I'm not inclined toward smut, and any romance with Natsume would be the slowest of slowburns. The show is very much devoid of romance with its recurring characters (with the exception of one horndog high schooler), despite some shoujo tier teasing between Natsume and two of his friends. Either way, personally I see it as that nothing's set in stone, so m/f or m/m is fine here. Just... seriously. The slowburn would be outrageous.
● what your character wants: To find a place where he can feel he "belongs"—he does want to go home, but the guidelines of who are brought to Riverview have convinced him that he simply wasn't meant to be there, as much as he adored it. Even if he loved his home, he did feel out of place there, and so here he is. ● what your character needs: ...Therapy?!?!? Or, at least, he has some stuff regarding childhood abuse he needs to work through, or, like, even... address, in any capacity. He hasn't addressed it with anyone, at any point—on the very rare occasion it's intimated at by anyone else, Natsume waves it off as no big deal and then clams up.
He also needs dinner, probably. What a frail dork.
