prompt i: batten down the hatches

If the sky has seemed a little more yellow-green than usual for the past couple of days, there's a reason for that. Meteorologists have been warning of a particularly nasty storm blowing in from the direction of the Delta in the Southwestern part of the Abandoned City.

The Quarantine is about to be hit by a nasty typhoon, and there's a lot to be done. Whether you're helping sandbag the banks of the river, which is bound to be swollen by the storm and flooding, weatherproofing your building, or just huddling indoors for warmth and helping reassure your friends, family, or partner that everything will be okay, it's time to take action!

prompt ii: monster madness

There's been a lot of talk around the Quarantine about the various predators and monsters outside the fence, and how they've been getting steadily more active, crowding the fences, trying to leap over them, seemingly driven by some kind of mania. There have even been increasing instances of predators that normally mind their own business attacking the fences wholesale, slamming into it over and over as if they're trying to find a weakness.

The good news? The fences have been holding. So far.

The bad news? They won't be holding for much longer.

The Perimeter Guard is in a bad way, and it's all hands on deck. They've also sent out a few of the Perimeter Guard Cadets to post up flyers around the city asking for temporary help in fighting off the beasts. So pick up whatever weapon you're best with, hop onto a truck transport, and head on over to the fences to help drive off the monsters and keep the Quarantine safe.

prompt iii: hold your lover close

With a storm rolling in that's going to keep everyone indoors, that might cause power outages, and is just frankly pretty scary, a lot of the clubs, restaurants, and hotels are doing special events to keep everyone's brains occupied and flooded with endorphins.

There are flyers around the city advertising various couples activities: speed dating, dance classes, overnight pool parties, and all-expenses-paid lovers' nights in.

The catch? The great deals only count if you're a twosome. So if you don't have someone to love, hit up speed dating in the indoor courtyard of Riverview's largest mall, or grab the first person you see and take the opportunity.

prompt iv: solution

After a day or two of storm activity, things are definitely not getting better: the rain is torrential, the monsters are attacking with increased energy and decreased rest times, and the distractions are starting to wear thin. Power outages happen off and on, a very rare situation in Riverview Quarantine.

The government has put out an all-points-bulletin imploring anyone with an exploratory spirit to help.

From what government science techs can tell, the storm isn't natural - after all, even the meteorologists were saying that the pressure systems seemed extremely strange. They've managed to narrow the cause to an area in the delta where the storm seems to be originating from, and are broadcasting the general location so anyone with the guts can head out into the storm and try to find the source of it.

Any characters who decide to penetrate the jungle in search of the source will find a device in the shape of a pyramid, with glowing blue edges about a day's walk into the Abandoned City. The pyramid is a malfunctioning weather control device that is causing wild pressure fluctuations and causing the storm as well as making the animals in the jungle aggressive and erratic. Characters can destroy or deactivate the device to end the storm.

This mission can be threaded out however you would like, in groups however large you would like, and more than one team can accomplish the goal.

[The visibility is terrible, and even with his enhanced senses, Steve is struggling against the rain and wind. Adam is thankfully confident. It's nice to have someone who's willing to take on the dangers they are facing and still try to encourage others. He follows after Adam, and is a step behind when the young man finds the angry mountain lion. He freezes in place as well, staring at the animal that is crouched in front of them.]

Stay still. It's okay. I'm with you.

[He steps up to Adam's side, giving the cat another target--one ready to intimidate the animal right back.]

Get ready to move.

What do you want to do?

[Adam asks, keeping his voice down as he darts his eyes towards Steve. He's not trying to lead ahead of Captain freaking America, but Steve seems completely fine sharing the burden, and Adam's not exactly about to leave him hanging. It's kind of exciting, too, to be working with a living legend.]

It looks like it's been rattled by the storm. Maybe we can just scare it away?

[He has his gun ready, but he'd rather not have to use him.]

Just wait a minute.

[Steve stays still next to Adam, watching the big cat and waiting to see if it will pounce first. When a few moments pass with no charge, he nods to the other man.]

If we both rush it at once, that should give it something to think about. On three?

[He's sure they can handle the mountain lion. It's not the worst threat Steve has faced. He does offer the option to Adam, though. He's the leader right now and Steve respects that.]

[detia]

[Adam gives Steve a curt nod, staying right in place, fingers still on his gun, eyes unwavering, despite the rain and the wind. The mountain lion doesn't move, just keeps on growling at them, and then Steve whispers again.]

Yeah. You go right, I'll go left.

[Another nod, and then, under his breath:]

One... two... three!

[He takes off.]

[Steve would rather intimidate the animal than really hurt it. While he doesn't want it to rampage through Quarantine and hurt innocent people, he thinks that the chance of driving the mountain lion away is a risk they can take. It's only scared, after all. It isn't hunting them. He glances toward Adam, nodding, then jumping to the right at his word. The mountain lion roars, instinctively making a lunge at them, but the way they move in opposite directions confuses it and causes the cat to miss its targets. Steve turns around, raising his arm and activating the energy shield projected from his wrist cuff. The flash of light and color gets the attention of the big cat, and Steve holds up the shield in front of him, advancing so he can give Adam an opening to drive the predator back to the woods.]

[Adam lunges into a roll, reaching out to grab a branch that's fallen to the ground, coming out of it to see Steve protecting himself with a shield not unlike the one Adam should have. It makes something clench in his stomach, but he ignores it, pushes it away as he swings the branch at the lion, driving it back towards the woods it came from.

It takes a while, gaining ground on the animal slowly, but finally, the mountain lion relents, and turns tail. Adam stands up straighter, dropping the branch back on the ground, giving his muddy hand a displeased look. But afterwards, he turns back to Steve and nods, grinning.]

[Steve advances from his side when Adam drives the puma back with his branch, blocking off his direction as an option for retreat. When the mountain lion finally retreats, he waits with his shield raised for a few moments, watching it go, before straightening up and deactivating the shield again.]

Good work. [Steve smirks, looking pleased with their success.]
