Fire in the Residential Building Plotting

Okay, so! Hi there lovely people. This is the official plotting post about a fire that is soon to be coming to your local residential building. Post characters with whatever your intentions are, either as people in trouble, or people doing the whole operation rescue thing. But basically, Ava is going to be setting things on fire ~2am the night of the 23rd. She basically constantly represses/transfigures her powers, and a particularly bad dream is going to result in not doing that for a moment or two. Which is more than enough for her to set her room on fire, which quickly spreads to the rest of floor nine and then moves from there. Maybe the worst part, though, is the energy surge that follows, sparking fires and playing mayhem with the electricity for a while after.

To anyone that happens to be looking at the building at the time, it looks like a flash of blue-white light that fades into total darkness, then lights start to intermittently flicker back to life, so if anyone that moved out wants to put together that Something's Wrong, you are cordially invited to do so. It's pretty much an opt in sort of thing where some areas of the building are burning, others get surging lights or blackouts for the next hour or so, or maybe someone suffers the worst casualty of all: a destroyed coffee maker. Feel free to make things as bad or as minor as you like, from hospital trips to people who sleep through the whole thing. Even in shared housing it's totally possible for one side to be damaged while the other is unscathed. Just be careful of the smoke, and the fires, and maybe consider staying with a friend for the night. Thing will probably be a little chaotic, but no one in specific is forced into losing their room or anything.

Ava's going to be trying to help with the chaos, and official emergency response teams will get involved once it becomes clear what's happened. That said, all of you Superhero and/or Good Samaritan types have an opportunity to save people and help out. There may be a network post to ICly make sure that as many people as possible are aware of what's going on and anyone either trapped or injured can ask for help if need be, but there will definitely be an event log!

Bonus: There's going to be an investigation into the fire, so if any of you police or investigative or powers and magic types want to get in on figuring out what happened, that's an option too. And most of her CR is pretty welcome to put two and two together and make an educated guess.

So, Ava is the person that started the fire! Sorry about that.

She's going to feel very bad about this and so is going to be working tirelessly to make sure everyone is either out of the building or safe until the fire teams have things under control. Possibly making a network post to warn everyone, though given she's going to also be trying to deal with the fire, her responses are mostly going to be kept to the informative / helping people. She's going to be a little reckless while helping out, both as a product of guilt and well, more guilt. I'll seriously toss her at anyone who wants their character to somehow be in trouble, either threaded or handwaved, just plot me. :)

She's also gonna be around after for conversations on the roof if anyone would seek her out, but expect her to have emotions about things.

And well. She is going to need someplace new to stay, which might end up being out past the fences unless anyone has some ideas in the meantime. Someplace safe for other people is kind of a tall order, oops.

So into this. So I'm posting my volunteering as someone to be rescued - because while Marinette's smart enough to get out of a building on fire, tricky or not since she's a floor above where the fire is going to start, she will want to rescue the stuff she's been working on and her designs. These are IMPORTANT(tm) to her, even if they wouldn't be to other people. So she could get trapped in the building, or maybe one of the more damaged areas collapses while she's trying to escape - or get to someone else or something. TOTALLY fine with Marinette getting dragged out.

On the other side of the spectrum i'm volunteering her for hero work, if anyone wants some CR with Marinette/Ladybug and would like to be rescued or would like help rescuing people, I'm down with that. Would also like to put out there, she has a canon ability that A) allows her to create any item (within reason) to help her with a situation, and also has the ability to reverse the damage to an area (which can also include reversing injuries) which is more of an area of an effect ability. Being that this CAN be very gamebreaky I'm reluctant to wave-wave poof unless the people threading with Marinette would like damage to be reverse either fully or partially (because since Tikki's not with her, I headcanon her magic doesn't work -quite- as effectively)

TldR: Anyone interested in Rescuing Marinette or Being Rescued by Ladybug? (or teaming up with Ladybug to rescue?)

I'm down to be the guy who tries to drag her out of the building! Magnus would instinctively try to run back in the building after telling Marinette to get away and stay safe, but it's possible she could convince him of her prowess in combating danger.

Natasha Romanoff | MCU | Search and Rescue reporting for duty!

So, all right, not much searching involved here. Rescue, though, is the second half of her job. If anyone would like to be saved from the flames by Natasha, we can make that happen. Going crashing through a window in the wee hours of the morning with a woman who has a grappling line coming out of her bracelet because it's the quickest way to the ground is absolutely on your RP wish list, I know it is. :3

Side note, Natasha does not enjoy fire. Not that many people enjoy fire, but Natasha has an especially bad emotional reaction to it, and in the chaos of the whole residential building suddenly going up like a Roman Candle, she might not be the best at hiding that. Mask is going to slip, at least a little. Not that she'll stop and chat about it in the moment, cause fire, but it could easily be used later on for an additional conversation when things are safe and all calmed down. So if you'd like a little sliver of insight into a very unpleasant past, I'm up for a couple of people getting that.

If you're up for it, maybe Ava and Nat can run into each other while doing that whole rescue thing? Ava's obviously gonna be pretty tight-lipped about being responsible for this whole mess, but she is going to be super in rescue-everyone mode.

She is also not a fan of fire, making this semi-ironic, I suppose.

Well if anyone needs some heals Shigeru is here for you! And of course any and all other healers/doctor types would be a plus to have as well! He'll definitely help with any and all injuries that people might want to have.

Also if your character needs to help getting some personal possession back he can rebuild things as long as there's a small portion of it left for him to build it back from!

Jake Jensen | The Losers | Search and Rescue

Jake is used to rescue missions, so I'd be down with having him help get people out. If he sees there's an actual group of people doing the same or some attempt at coordination going on, he's good with taking orders and will fit in with wherever someone thinks he'd do best.

One more for search and rescue! X'rhun lives on the floor above where the blaze will be starting, and he does have enhanced senses so he may catch a whiff of the fire before it spreads too far to try and get people out of there early on.

Things!

- X'rhun has healing abilities, including a spell to magically revive a character from KO. If your character is hurt or unconscious, he can help.
- Will be amenable to forming teams! If any other rescuers want to join up with him, please do.
- Will probably go back into the building even after getting people out early. He is a bleeding heart like that.
- I am a-okay with having him get hurt or trapped himself. Help an old man out.

Healing abilities, you say? How do you feel about healing a stubborn Viking warrior who's inhaled a lot of smoke and is absolutely refusing to go back to the hospital?

So Dodger doesn't care about anyone else, with very few exceptions who he figures can handle themselves. He won't be helping to save anyone else, he'll be too busy trying to save his own room and important belongings - but he's gonna need some help.

Namely, as part of his punishment for breaking a ton of laws, he has a shock collar that enforces the rules of his house arrest. That means he's lost his strength, agility, fire resistance and teleportation.. and it also means he'll get a nasty shock if he leaves the walls of the residential building. Without Reaper coming over to escort him out, he'll be found laying on the ground a few feet outside the building, getting slow-cooked by his collar without any way of getting it off. Only a perimeter guard or a police officer will be able to take it off... but as soon as it's off he'll be taking off without so much as a thank you.

If anyone wants to be that rescuer, hmu! Otherwise, his dog may try to help people and I'm happy to play out threads like that that won't directly have Dodger in them. And someone please please save his pet fireflies...

Jon will be suited up as Superboy to help anyone in need, so if anyone wants to be rescued by a powerful but tiny child, he's here for you. He's also excellent for putting out fires as he has super breath and ice breath. And he can fly people out.

This idjit will probably be more staying out of the way than anything, but he can be brought in to help with the saving people bit, once Ciel is deemed safe. He doesn't have much in the way of putting out the fires abilities, but he can teleport to almost anywhere in the city to get people out.

Gladio Amicitia to the rescue?

Gladio is on floor 7 room 5 (shared housing) and is probably going to be helping get people to safety.

Since his little sister/roommate also just went through the Portal back home he's... probably a little too distracted/down in the dumps to investigate the source of the fire at this time, unless prompted.

But because this is the kind of quality content I live for, let me know if you want to be rescued by this sweaty and slightly sooty man.

he's on floor nine, and he just got here a few days ago! Osomatsu doesn't have a lot of items in the way that he can lose, but he does have his brothers. Karamatsu's going to be rescued, and Osomatsu is probably going to need that too. i'm debating him getting wounded in the midst of trying to find his brothers, but other than that, i'm open to ideas.

If he needs rescuing, Ava is both on the 9th floor, and well, feeling super guilty about this and so going to be very determined about trying to rescue people. Especially if he's injured she'll definitely help him find his brothers and/or get him out safe and promise to look for them for him?

Hm.

Welp. Definitely search and rescue boy over here. Though, having him get trapped wouldn't be terribly out of character. He does sometimes get in a little over his head when acting impulsively. So, I can see... one rescue? And then the rest of his interactions being the rescuer? Unless someone wants to go along with him and be co-rescuers. I'm definitely up for that, too! :D

So Ivar here is a really heavy sleeper since he snoozes at odd hours, and the sounds of a chaotic fire is not going to wake him up since he's slept through the sounds of eighth-century battles, yo. So this will be a problem. Someone will need to rescue him before he either gets barbecued, or more likely, inhales a crapton of smoke. He'll be the grumpiest and most badass damsel in distress you've ever encountered.

This will also lead to him needing someone to heal him because he is not going back to the hospital and you can't make him! He will stubbornly die of a coughing fit and damaged lungs before anyone can make him do so.

So yeah, rescue + healing needed!

Heyy, I know I flaked on our other thread the other month (rl things got super crazy sob) but if you were up for it, maybe Ava could rescue him? Given her ton and a half of guilt about all this she is 110% going to make sure every. single. last person gets out okay.

also the image of Ivar getting carted off by a five-foot-nothing girl is kind of amusing to me. They can argue about the hospital and maybe eventually find a healer? Just Ivar is great. :>

Since plenty of people are going to be evacuating others / doing the rescue thing, Bucky will probably focus on trying to stop the fire and minimize damage. He used to be a terrifying assassin, so he knows how to destroy a building with a fire, it's just reverse engineering to stop it, right??? So if you want your stuff not caught up in the fire, he could come help put things out before it gets there, etc.

And if anybody is investigating the fire's source, he might. Stick his nose in there. He feels kind of protective over Ava.

Mantis | MCU | Excuse me but there's a fire

Mantis will possibly be one of the first people to notice the fire aspect of what's happening, since she is in one of the rooms directly beside Ava's. Since she only sleeps about 3-4 hours a night she'll most likely be awake when the wall between their rooms starts to show signs of fire. This will understandably concern her and she'll be out of the room and looking to warn people that there's a fire happening and they need to evacuate. The only thing I'm having her grab are her cactus and the top part of her uniform, so she's going to be wandering around in her normal green uniform top, no gloves, and polka dot pajama bottoms.

She'll be both confused and mildly panicked so she will just be announcing the fire to anyone she happens to wander past on her way to the 13th floor, because her first thought once she's sure someone (anyone?) is taking charge on the 9th floor will be to find and warn Peter and Gamora what's happening, and make sure they're alright.

Because her room is so close to Ava's I'm planning on having the majority of her room get burnt to a crisp, including her precious disco lamp. She will save her cactus, so feel free to have your characters notice her wandering around with a potted cactus warning people that the building is on fire and they should evacuate.

Once she finds Peter and Gamora she'll be sticking with them for a bit, but eventually will end up outside with wherever those rescued or evacuated are collecting. She will be available to mentally calm or send to sleep anyone who is overly distraught or injured/in pain, so if anyone will need that, she'll be there. Also just a heads up because of the no gloves anyone she touches skin-to-skin will have their feelings examined.

So she will be: 9th floor, stairwells, 13th floor, about with Peter and Gamora, then outside helping people.

Illya Kuryakin | Helping people & investigating!

Illya accidentally blew off his secret identity lately thanks to the memory loss event so he’s going to be SUPER PISSED. Which means he will actually really appreciate the chance to actually do something and get out of his room to stop- uh, thinking about things (no he wasn’t sulking hush).

He doesn’t sleep much and he’s a light sleeper who’s usually alert so he’ll probably get there pretty fast. While he’s got tons of training he’s not exactly emergency response so his focus will probably be on getting people to safety. He’s strong (not superhuman strong but he does… literally lift cars and huge bikes when needed so) so he can be helpful if people are trapped or to carry them to safety if needed.

It’s very likely he will investigate, as well once the emergency is over so if any characters ants to launch an investigation he’ll want to help!

So Ginko's on the 7th floor, but he's a light sleeper and will probably be easily woken by the smoke.

He doesn't have any superpowers or anything so most of what he's likely to be doing is banging on doors and ushering people out. If anyone who's injured or can't walk/move well wants to have him carry your character out on his back, that could def be a thing! He'll also probably be that guy trying very hard to convince people not to go back in for their belongings.

I could also see him maybe getting some mild burns/minor injuries, so if anyone wants to play with the healing angle that'd also be good!

Angela & Bill, rescuer & rescuee

Angela is on the perimeter guard search and rescue team, so she'll help get people out (and she won't even ask for anything in return). Her armor flies so she can get people out through windows and stuff.

Bill is only on the 2nd floor, so you'd think she'd be fine, but the power's going out and there's a rush of people in the stairwell, so she's going to trip and fall and twist her ankle. Taking volunteers for concerned citizens who'd help her get out on a bum leg.

Hana was 100% still up playing video games on the floor directly above the fire at 2am. So. She probably won't be aware until the energy surge kills her console.

Anywho! Once she realize she what's going on, she's going to want to help out. She's going to want to get into her mech immediately but while she can summon it to come to her, she doesn't want it crashing through a burning building and potentially making things worse so she's going to need to get down to the underground parking somehow. After that she would be able to fly around rescuing people and all that good stuff!

If she needs someone to help get her downstairs, X'rhun will be trying to get people out early on. If you want, they can team up for a bit after she gets her magitek armor mech too.

Shiro

So Shiro's going to be awake at 2am, hanging out with another person who is awake at 2am.

When they notice the fire, he's going to first go get his armor from the 15th floor (because protection, being able to breathe, and it has a jet pack) and he's going to be going from floor to floor to help people get out.

He's probably going to be more focused on clearing floors first before anything else.

Arisu/Alice... maybe needs rescuing? I feel like various scenarios work out for her and depends on what people want to play out with her! She was probably practicing singing late at night in the stairwells and also she stays on the 10th floor.

She's selfless enough to try sticking around and try to wake people up to get the hell out. She's also smart enough to get out herself OR call for help through the network on her tablet (she pretty much carries it around all the time too...) if she's in a pinch, so if anyone wants to answer her distress call and haul her out of the building - that works too.

She might be a bit shaken up since she's never really been in this sort of danger before :')

Soooooooooo, she can probably get out of the fire. She actually has Ice Materia but I am going to make her forget that. She's open for plotting and planning. If you're super sexy you can come save her cute butt. She also has heal Materia for those who want to get hurt and cheat some of the after affects.

Tony will be Iron Man-ing around because a flying suit of armor is helpful for these kinds of situations. He'll mostly focus on finding people and getting them out, but he'll also try to prevent as much structural damage as possible, even if that means holding up walls himself. Because that's just how he rolls.
