Hi everyone! Welcome to the State of the Game post! This one is very important, as I have decided it is time to move into endgame. Details under the cut.

As I'm sure everyone has noticed, things have slowed down a lot in Riverview over the past few months. I've done my best to try to revitalize things and advertise, but unfortunately things don't seem to be picking up, and at the same time my real life has become really hectic, which hasn't given me the time to put more effort into shaking things up.

Because of this, I've decided that it's time to choose a concrete endgame to allow players to wrap things up, decide their characters' fates, and allow the game to end with dignity instead of just fading away.

I'd like to thank the players, past and present, for being part of one of the best playerbases I've ever had the joy of playing with and modding. Everyone has been incredibly creative, kind, and chill, and you've all helped make this setting an interesting and well-developed place for characters to live.

what now?

As I mentioned earlier, my real life has been incredibly hectic lately and I simply don't have the time or energy to build a big, plotty endgame, as much as I would love to. I have decided to set the endgame date as December 31, to give players time to wrap up player plots, finalize CR, and figure out what the characters will do post-game. For the final two months, things will remain pretty status quo ICly, with no big drastic changes to the world or setting.

During this time period, there are a few important things that I am going to be changing about the game's function to facilitate endgame. They are as follows:

● No AC: There will be no AC required for November and December.

● No Bonus Point Requirement: I will be shutting down the ACP system as of this post. If you have requested an item or other perk on the page, please consider it granted and play with it as you wish. If there are items or other perks that you were saving up for, please consider those granted as well.

● Endgame Reunions: I will be posting up a comment on the applications page where anyone who has been previously accepted into Riverview can request to have their characters return for endgame to tie off any loose ends. All that will be required is a link to the accepted application, and a request to join the communities. This includes doubles. If you previously played a character here and they've been picked up since you dropped, it's still okay to request to come back. We will just assume that they are AU duplicates of each other.

● Gamebending: If you've always wanted to do a plot that you were worried might be gamebreaking, like having your character try to fly a ship off the moon, run for mayor, or other similar things, now's the time. I've created a thread below for that kind of request and will work with anyone who wants to do something drastic to go out with a bang rather than a fizzle.

● Mingles/Modwork: As I said earlier, I don't have the energy or time to do an involved endgame plot, but I will post the monthly mingles as usual. They will be more attuned to CR building and holiday events, but they will still be posted. I will also do a quick run through of outstanding modwork (minus the ACP page) and get everything up to date.

● World/Setting Lore: If you've ever had a burning question about the setting, either Riverview Quarantine itself or the reality/world that it exists in, I've created a Setting Lore thread below and will answer anything you're curious about! There was a lot of lore I didn't get to bring up in game and I'd still love to share it.

Please feel free to use this post to plot and plan for endgame as well.

There's a lot to explore in this setting and universe still, and I'm not quite done with it. While Riverview as a game will be ending, I am planning to do a follow-up 'sequel' game once my real life calms down again, and I've had some time to hibernate and recoup my creative energy, which I estimate will be in the range of 3-6 months from now.

That game will be a rough follow-up to Riverview, and will be an exploration game set on a spaceship with a setting and exploration arc that will be thoroughly planned in advance to ensure a cohesive plot while leaving room for characters to affect the setting. Characters previously played in Riverview will be accepted as CRAUs for that game, so keep an eye out if that's your jam!

I've posted a thread on the mod contact page where anyone who is interested in being plurk pinged when that game is ready for an interest check can leave their username.

Firstly, thank you so much for so many good memories, I had a blast with my two kids.

I wanted to be sure — they have the option of staying in RV End-game, right? My two have crappy situations in canon and they’d definitely wanna stay in RV, it’s a second home for them! ~~And Riverview Spider-Man never rests, the city must be defended.~~

Absolutely! There are a few options: going home to their own worlds, going home with someone else, staying in the Quarantine, or if you have other specific ideas, hit me up and I'm sure we can work it out.
