mod post: monthly state of the game

monthly state of the game

Hi everyone! Welcome to October's State of the Game post! Sorry it's a couple weeks late. I'm doing some sorta big stuff this month, so please check out the rest of the post under the cut.

an apology from the worst mod ever

First off, I know I've mentioned it on the mod plurk a couple of times, but I wanted to officially say it in a mod post everyone has access to - I'm sorry for the slowdown in modwork speed over the past month or two. I've been going through an incredibly rough patch in my real life, with both job and personal life stress, and it's made it harder to keep up on things. I know I've been slower and more absent than usual, and I am very sorry for that. It's 100% been due to real life stress and not because I'm losing interest in the game or the players.

That having been said, you guys are a joy to work with and everyone has been very patient, and I'm pleased to announce that things are getting back on track. I've had a recent surge of energy and drive to get things moving around here, and as you may have noticed in the TDM, I'm going to be getting more directly involved in things again!

My priorities going into the next few weeks and months are going to be:

● Getting back to speed on answering questions, PMs, and processing apps and list updates.

● Setting up groundwork for low-level mod-driven plot in the game. The current exploration system hasn't been getting much traction, so I've decided to give it a bit of a kickstart with the most recent TDM and see if that helps make things more accessible. I am going to be focusing on adding more missions and providing a wider variety of rewards that will appeal to heroes, villains, and the morally grey.

● Working on the Bestiary that was discussed in previous mod posts.

● Expanding and adding to the "Locations/Setting" page as the exploration (hopefully) ramps up!

mod plot: expansion

As you may have noticed in the most recent Test Drive Meme, some background player plot has resulted in the opening of a new area in the Abandoned City! A hydroelectric power relay station has come to life along a spur of the transit system that has been being used as a testing ground for Ava Orlova's energy generation powers.

This means that expansion of the Inhabited City is coming up! Any player in the game is more than welcome to participate in the missions outlined in the Test Drive Meme. I will assume that the objective on the TDM is accomplished by the end of October, and in preparation for that, I have officially changed over to the new exploration page and have added four new missions under Objective II: Expansion Into The Abandoned City. I will be adding more new locations that can be explored and secured over the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye on the page.

I would absolutely love to see some big changes to the game setting with this update and am willing to facilitate any changes that players want to work with in the setting, so I hope this makes it easier and gives players a better idea of what kinds of changes are possible with exploration. If you have any feedback on how this could be more exciting or easier to get involved with, or suggestions for locations, please send them to me by PM or on this entry. I'm excited to hear from you!

perimeter guard: aerial survey & exploration

After completion of the Mystery Transmission mission, Captain James Kirk discovered an abandoned and heavily damaged shuttlecraft. With the help of Poe Dameron, the shuttle was repaired and brought back to the city. With this shuttle at their disposal, a new unit of the Perimeter Guard has been put in place, led by these two intrepid explorers!

The unit is called the Aerial Survey & Exploration Unit, and 'focuses on the exploration of the moon via shuttle. This unit will focus on mapping out terrain, studying relevant information such as topography, geology, climate, energy fluctuations, land and water masses all around the moon, as well as the study of the atmosphere and the small area of space surrounding the moon.'

More information on this unit, and how to join it can be found on the Aerial Survey & Exploration Page set up by Ricks, and the unit has been added to the Perimeter Guard Page.
